We got off to a sketchy impression of Haiti - the temporary building to exit the airport allowed for a chaotic scene. Later when we flew out on American Airlines, it was quite a nice place to check in.
That gate to exit was crowded with lots of men wanting to help with the luggage. There was practically no light so I did not realize many had on official airport T shirts. There was actually no need for security there - no widespread thefts. The rest of the trip was so different. Be careful about initial impressions ! -a.r.russo
